Changing Faces of Hamlet? Romeo?

Listening to This Week in Google or TWIG I was reminded about Google’s photo editing software update 3.8. In addition to the ability to batch upload multiple albums, edit those albums online and metadata options, we get a new feature,  ’Face Movies.’  The ability to create a face movie centre or framed on one particular face. Simply select a bunch of photos of a particular person, choose the time to freeze on each frame, a transition effect, and the video size. All the help you need came be found here. The output, a video focused on a single person’s face.

Nice feature but where is the educational application? Well, this could be to be a niffy way to show character development within a play, book or film, Hamlets devolution or ?? (add character name here) maturing for example. End of school videos, no more morphing of students from Year 7 to 11? Any more ideas welcomed.

Here is the big G’s given example.

Search Stories Video Creator

Google recently launched a new feature called the Search Stories Video Creator. This new feature prompts you to input up to seven search queries from acroos Google’s search features (including Images, Maps, and of cause web search), throw on a song and it generates a video in the same style as Google’s other Search Stories. The whole process only takes a few minutes and the tool automatically uploads your video to YouTube if you have an account. Now there is no point me rambling on when Google already have it as a Video Story.

Just in case you didnt understand just how easy it is, here are  three simple steps to impress your students.

Step 1: Enter your search terms – I recommence you use a range of web, images, news, maps, it makes for a better story.

Step 2: Add in music. Google has a pretty comprehensive list of tunes – they are moving into the music business afterall.

Step 3: Preview and upload to YouTube.

I am thinking starters, Romeo and Juliet springs to mind.

Coursework Motivation

With Yr 11 moving closer to exam season, coursework deadlines are looming. Students around the UK (and every other education system closing in on Exams) are about to tell you why they can’t get done, what needs to be done. Here is a short video I am considering to show my Yr 11 scholars, a prompt to get done, what needs to get done right now and not later, coursework.

Should I? Shan’t I? They won’t like it. They wont get it. They will think I am making fun of them. Their parents might object. There’s more important things to teach them. Well, should I? Will you?
