The in-ear, TimeKettle WT2 ear-buds, inspired by the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy’s Babel Fish, featured on “Reggie in China” recently retail on Amazon at circa £250.
Two ear-buds, designed to share for one-to-one conversations, these devices supports 36 languages and take just seconds (1-3) to recognise and translate conversation. Is there a place for these in certain school situations? Possibly not yet in classrooms… yet, what on-boarding students, parent or career consultations, serious incident investigations or mentoring conversations?
In the meantime, how about sharing how to set up your translation settings in your email (Exchange -Office 365) to support communications. Possibly, sending sending these instructions home for parents and some students, and for tutors receiving emails?
- At the top of the page, select Settings > View all Outlook settings > Message handling.
- Under Translation, choose one of the following:
- Ask me before translating
- Never translate
- If you don’t want Outlook to translate a certain language, choose a language in the drop-down menu under Don’t translate the following languages and then select Add.
