The Wellington Academy serve its immediate community. Around 40% of our intake are children of service families. The Academy has military representatives on its governing body and a growing number of staff come from a service background. The Academy also operates a well established Combined Cadet Force with its own purpose built facilities on-site. The availability of state boarding means, that for military students who board, it removes the anxiety of changing schools and the possible disruption to education.
You will not be surprised to read that Remembrance Day is an important event at our school. Last year was breath-taking, this year, it was some how even more powerful and poignant. Without question, we owe a debt of thanks to many staff, students, governors, and visitors who made the service so special. The behaviour of our students was impeccable.
