Curriculum Area Development Plan (CADP) is being completed and submitted.

In most schools, gained time, offers an opportunity to reflect and evaluate the academic year as well as plan curriculum improvements for the next. Welcome to self evaluation BLANK.

In read the ten submitted department SEF, I have developed a better understanding of both the departments and the reviewers. The reviewing process has highlighted engrained or cultural or ‘group-think’ frailties that can be addressed.

If you are an aspiring middle leader, offer to help write a section of your departments Curriculum Area Development Plan. Your line manager will appreciate the offer of assistance and you will be investing in yourself.

If you are a middle leader writing a Curriculum Area Development Plan of some fashion or form, read another departments self-evaluation, and definitely get a trusted middle leader to read yours.

If you are a senior leader, read a Curriculum Area Development Plan from outside your line management. That way you will get to know the school and the reviewer better, possible seem an old issue in a new light.

New for 2013-14

Given the criticism of some, that a self evaluation document is deceased, merely days after it is written. Stealthily filed away, carefully hidden at back of a rarely used cupboard somewhere, we have created condensed or mini Curriculum Area Development Plan (CADP). A two page document, covering the improvement headlines, for display in department work areas. It will be interested to see how this is used, if it is used?
