BlogTalkRadio (BTR) is a tool I want to explore more extensively yet at the same time, I don’t wish to over burden myself. Game Based Learning is my professional teaching focus whilst Digital Leaders is my strategy focus for 2011 and I am committed to fulfilling those two projects with enthusiasm. This post is merely a ‘flag’ to other edtech enthusiasts and a reminder to myself.
Just what is BlogTalkRadio? This 5 minute screencast about sums it up, but very simply, it is a radio social network that gives anyone a chance to have their own live talk show.
Set up was very simply but as I was not willing to phone…. I hit a small stumbling block.
To host with Skype you will need a premium account $30 a month or $300.
If your looking for freemium, then a) its a 30 minute show and b) not in prime time 00:00 to 04:00 (very reasonable IMHO) but not if users need to call in.
Still, lots of interesting opportunities here for education, so I left them an email with the propositions of an education advocate programme, either free ‘Premium Accounts’ or access to Skype hosting, and we will see what they reply with.
