Next step: Plan the Blog. Blog the Plan! SO here is our first lesson, the terminology has changed.

FYI

  • WordPress MU is now WordPress Multisite or MS.
  • A blog is now a site (a blog that a user can signup for)
  • Site is now a network (a group of sites, usually with a main site to head them up)
  • Site Admin is now Super Admin (the super user that has access to everything in the Network)
  • All the admin menu’s under “Super Admin” have also changed to reflect this new terminology.
  • So, back to the practical elements. The domain has been registed. WordPress Installed and Mike Jenkins our E-Resources manager, resourced and enabled the multisite features.

With five sites now created, with staff as administrators, we were ready to go. Logged in as a Super Admin, I failed to add myself to the site? After 30 minutes investigation it again turned out to be a simple, but hard to find, tick box.

    1. Access the Supoer Admin MS site admin.
    2. Click on options
    3. Select radio button for Add New Users – ‘To Allow blog administrators to add new users to their blog via the Users->Add New page.’
    4. Click on update options to apply changes.

The Users_Add_New subpanel will only appear when accessing the blog pages as an administrator.
