Teachnology not Technology

During my ICT career as a Hampshire ‘Subject Lead Professional, I have prepared, delivered and consulted on a range of ICT focused teacher training events.

I have presented at the SSAT National Conference and at various SSAT events promoting student Digital Leadership. I have presented at the Open Source Schools Conference and for ALT (Association for Learning Technologists), on a range of ‘teachnology’ topics. Locally I have presented for the Hampshire Advisory and Inspection Service, Eastleigh Consortium and for Hamble College.

In the past, I contributed to the BECTA ICT Tools for Future Teachers Workshop at Brunel University, as a committee for MoodleMoot 2010 and currently act as a committee member for the ALT, advisory of Secondary School issues.

Other areas of interest include whole school strategy for 1-2-1 learning solutions, Moodle and  promoting a blended learning environment for staff and students.

With a Sport Science and Physical Education degree from Loughborough University and a Masters Degree in Kinesiology and Sport Psychology from Southern Illinois University I am not your typical ICT advocate. I want to share how technology can be used to engage with young people rather than tell you why.

With over 10 years teaching experience, I am a keen ICT innovator, working with many web 2.0 tools, contributing to global ICT networks and forums. I would welcome the opportunity to share ideas and innovations with you, your department, team or school and learn from you in exchange.

The future has already arrived. It’s just not evenly distributed yet. William Gibson
