SEN Professional Development

As we make steady, if weary, progress towards the end of Term 6, both Senior and Curriculum Leaders in schools across the country are self-evaluating themselves. No doubt under the old Ofsted framework, with forethought for the new framework. Here at the Academy, we have already identified key pupil groups that require further focus, if they are going to realise their potential.

We are planning to devote time and focus during Professional Development to effective teaching, learning and assessment of SEN pupils, particularly those pupils on the autism spectrum and pupils with Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties (BESD). That is not to say we are overlooking our SEN pupils with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) or dyslexia. Our SENCO shared the Inclusion Development Programme an interactive, anytime, any place resource, online resource covering these four areas.
