Back in Sept 09 I wrote about a fantastic learning,engineering and personal endeavour achievement. The story of William Kamkwamba. I know his story had a profound impact on a wide and diverse community of educators, politicians, engineers, ecologists, agriculturists and more. So much so, I just read that last night at SXSW, William and the Windmill was awarded one of the festival’s top two honors, taking home Grand Jury Award for Documentary Feature
William’s 6-minute talk, “How I harnessed the wind,” was life-changing and catapulted him from regular teenager to international energy superstar. Let’s hope it inspires some 14 year olds a little closer to home.
