Realistic

Being realistic is the most commonly travelled road to mediocrity. Why would you be realistic? – Will Smith

In my Y11 English class I do not have a single students targeted a C grade. At present, their writing is gradually improving, but it is not yet at a C grade. In fact, if you could grade work ethic, few would pass. I have a very real task here, a real responsibility. So every lesson I look for ways to tell them they are working at and above a grade C.

That’s a fantastic idea, a grade B idea. That’s an outstanding counter argument, if you could work that through, it would nail it for the examiner. If we stitched your responses together, you would get a C, maybe a B. What do you mean, ‘you don’t know.’ You do know, you just need more time. It is exhuasting, and it all starts again tomorrow. Tomorrow I am going to show them the FFT Live students in their shoes that got a B and challenge them!

#sltchat Ensure that staff and students are talking about the sheep grades  B, A, A* Never aim for Cs.

Today I showed my class the video. I am really pleased that I did. I was really proud of the way they listened to Will Smith ‘preaching’ one view of dedication.
