I Haven’t Failed… I Just Haven’t Succeeded Yet.

Yesterday, I received the disappointing news that Hamble College had not been accepted to Microsoft’s Innovative Schools programme for 2011. It was perhaps more disappointing, given the effort put into the application. Given the opportunity to ask questions, I asked.

Our journey to date has been largely focused on providing IT stability. to empower teaching and learning. Our application over emphasised IT and under-emphasised ‘teaching, learning, leadership and other topics.’

So here is both a personal and leadership marker. First, with the imminent deployment of LIVE@EDU, I am committing to write a Virtual Classroom Tour focusing on the use of Web Apps for Collaborative Writing.

Second, with the appointment of our new Principal, I hope to convince her that the collaborative features inherent in LIVE@EDU can bring about a whole-school change.
