I often find reading Ewan McIntosh blog leaves me with plenty to consider. Today he provided coverage of John West-Burnham presentation at the Partners in Excellence Worldwide Innovative Education Forum. It is a very worthwhile read and there is no reason to paraphrase it here. I hope you enjoy it as I did.

We cannot restructure a structure that is splintered at its roots. Adding wings to caterpillars does not create butterflies – it creates awkward and dysfunctional caterpillars. Butterflies are creating through transformation.” (McLuhan, 1995)

Great quotes about Learning and Change Pool

Digigogy Images

Great quotes about Learning and Change Pool is a great resources for any teacher, educator, parent, but particularly those that like quotes that challenge and inspire (or indeed both). I subscribe to the Flickr feed, so updates / posters get delivered to my reader without any effort what’s so ever. Free inspiration almost daily.

These quotes regularly lighteup my reading, inspire me, make me reflect. That in itself would be enough but sometimes I share them as screen savers, desktops, as lesson starters or plenaries, as A4 posters. I have even contributed, albeit once. There are 506 international  members who share this community and many / most share their creativity for free. That is also an inspiration. Enjoy.

Very Useful Youtube Shortcut

I am not going to take credit for this, but I did read about it on two different tech sites this week and I have tested it out. Apparently there are secret not so secret keyboard shortcuts you can use while watching YouTube videos to make it skip forwards or back.

It’s based on percentages, and you simply have to hit pause, and then hit one of the numbers on your keyboard—1 for 10%, 2 for 20%, and so on.  Doing so will jump you to the specified section of the video. That will be very handy for class.

Written for Andrea Ellis, National Coordinator for English.

Accessible to all teachers.

You can add multiple creatures to your dish by clicking the 'add' button at the top right of the screen. The combination of different creatures results in unique compositions that always change due to the creatures movement. You can click and drag on the world to move around your composition.

Compositions can be saved by clicking 'share', which can then be sent to others allowing them to hear what you've made. This demo video gives you a feel for how to create your own Seaquence composition:
