This week, our Network manager purchased StarTech USB 2.0 to 2.5/3.5 inch SATA HDD Docking Station for both tech team office. This device allows you to simply plug in the hard drive and connect to the host computer using an available USB 2.0 connection. No need to connect or enclose the drive.
This solution was in answer to a very simple problem. We currently have are range of users groups, all experimenting with new test images for Sept 2010. This allows quick and east installation of the different images and transfer between justa few systems. These are not networked images. The tech team also use this method for quick back ups of working data or moving data between systems. The units are just £15.00 and have already paid for themselves in time saved.
